The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago is welcoming the new academic year with its first exhibit, the Alumni and Student Art Show, on display from Aug. 25 to Sept. 26. Admission is free and open to the public.
A reception with the artists will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 1–3 p.m. in the gallery, featuring an alumni artist talk at 2 p.m.
The exhibition will feature an eclectic mix of artwork by Concordia-Chicago art alumni Holly Hanrahan BA ’23 (Pre-Art Therapy and Psychology) and Molly Miklosz BA ’19 (Pk-12 Art Education and Spanish), along with works by current CUC students enrolled in art classes. Visitors will experience a wide variety of media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, fiber art, ceramics, papermaking, and more.
“The alumni artist talk is a platform to inspire current students and the CUC community,” said Nikkole Huss, Ferguson Art Gallery Director. “Holly will share her experiences in an MS graduate program in Art Therapy with an emphasis in Counseling. Her internships at hospitals and care facilities deepened her understanding of the therapeutic applications of art in medical settings. Molly will discuss her ‘Emerging Artist’ grant funded by the Château d’Orquevaux, which included a two-week artist residency in France. She is currently balancing an MFA graduate program in studio art while teaching high school full time and serving as a docent on an architectural tour boat.”
The Ferguson Art Gallery is located in Kretzmann Hall at Concordia University Chicago, 7400 Augusta St., River Forest, IL.
