The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago is pleased to announce its upcoming show, “Occupying Frames: Simplicity and Spaces,” featuring the art of Angela Green and Jim Gabbard. The exhibit is free and open to the public from Oct. 8 to Nov. 11. A reception with the artists will be held in the gallery Sunday, Oct. 22 from 2-4 p.m., with an artist talk at 3 p.m.
Using photography combined with haiku or prose, Green and Gabbard capture moments of pure beauty punctuated by sights, sounds and spaces. Selected images are from their books “Simplicity” and “Spaces.” The accompaniment of the written word provides a profound journey into each photograph, coupled with unique narratives and serene moments of reflection.
Angela Green and Jim Gabbard are artists and authors living and working in Fort Wayne, IN. Green is the gallery coordinator and curator of the Garrett (IN) Museum of Art and the Third Floor Gallery in the Union League Club of Chicago. Gabbard is a photography instructor at Purdue University Fort Wayne and director of the Garrett Museum of Art.
“Our lives are bombarded with so much information on a daily basis, it is common practice to sift through and miss material,” says Ferguson Gallery director Nikkole Huss, professor of art at Concordia-Chicago. “Green and Gabbard’s dynamic exhibition unearths treasures in the mundane moments of everyday life.”
