The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago invites the community to experience “Modern Quilt Studio,” an exhibition featuring the work of professional quiltmakers Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr. The exhibition runs March 16 through May 1, 2026, and is free and open to the public.

A special gallery reception will be held on Sunday, April 12, from 1 to 3 p.m., featuring an artist talk at 2 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to hear directly from the artists about their creative process and the evolution of modern quilt design.

Ringle and Kerr are widely recognized as pioneers of the modern quilt movement, blending traditional quilt craftsmanship with contemporary design. Their work reimagines the American quilt through vibrant colors, bold aesthetics, and distinctive patterns, demonstrating how quilting can function as both fine art and functional design.

Celebrating 27 years of collaboration, the exhibition highlights the artists’ innovative approach to quiltmaking and their influence on the modern quilting community.

The artists’ work has been featured in major publications including The New York Times, TIME, O: The Oprah Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, American Patchwork & Quilting, and Country Living. Ringle and Kerr are co-founders of Modern Quilt Studio in Oak Park, Illinois, and have taught quilting and design across the United States and internationally in Canada, Japan, England, Australia, and France.
