Transfer Wednesdays (walk-in or virtual appointments available)

Our convenient same-day admission option is available just for transfer students on Wednesdays during the months of April, June and October. Whether you prefer to meet in-person or virtually, CUC is here to support you.

By attending, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet individually with your transfer admission counselor, and discuss your transfer credits.
  • Learn about the generous scholarships and awards that make CUC an affordable choice.
  • Receive exclusive access to a virtual tour of our beautiful 40-acre campus.
  • Send in official electronic copies of all your college transcripts to receive a same-day admission decision.

Transfer Checklist

Follow these preliminary steps to begin your journey at CUC.

  • Schedule an appointment with your Concordia-Chicago admission counselor.
  • Check Concordia-Chicago’s equivalency guides below for information on how your specific coursework will transfer. 
  • Attend a Walk-In Wednesday during October, April or June. If you bring all your official transcripts with you, you can receive an immediate admission decision.
  • Use the Net Price Calculator to determine the financial assistance you might receive, and estimate your cost of attendance.
  • Apply to Concordia-Chicago (with no application fee) using the online application or add Concordia University Chicago to your common application.
  • Submit all official transcripts from any colleges and universities you’ve attended to:

Starting on Oct. 1, file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the academic year you plan to start classes at Concordia-Chicago.

Admission Requirements

Transfer applicants must submit the following to be considered for admission:

  • A completed application:
  • Official transcripts of all college coursework from each institution attended
  • Minimum cumulative GPA for all college coursework of 2.00/4.00 scale and evidence of good academic standing at the last college attended
  • If you have less than 15 semester hours (22.5 quarter hours), you will need to submit an official final high school transcript, complete with graduation dates, or written documentation of successful completion of the G.E.D.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis prior to each term. In order for us to serve you best, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

The Admission Committee reserves the right to request additional information or documentation deemed helpful in evaluating applicants for admission (e.g., letters of reference, recommendation, personal interview, additional testing, etc.)


The transfer admission process is based on the number of college credits you have completed. Review your next steps below based on the credits you have earned.

Unofficial Transcript Evaluations and Articulation

Before applying for admission as a transfer student, you will need to determine the number of credits you can transfer.

Transferring Credits

Determine which college credits will transfer to Concordia University Chicago. Use DegreeWorks, our online tool to see how your completed classes taken to date will count towards a degree at Concordia-Chicago.

Contact your transfer admission counselor with additional questions about required courses or other items regarding your transcript evaluation.

Illinois Articulation Agreement

Concordia University Chicago is a participant in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a statewide agreement that allows transfer of the completed Illinois General Education Core Curriculum between participating institutions.

Completion of the transferable General Education Core Curriculum at any participating college or university in Illinois assures transferring students that lower-division general education requirements for an associate or bachelor's degree have been satisfied, excluding graduation and mission-related requirements.

This agreement is in effect for students entering an associate or baccalaureate degree-granting institution as a first-time freshman in summer 1998 and thereafter. You can learn more about IAI online at www.itransfer.org.

Applying with 15 or More Transfer Credits

Take these specific steps if you have 15 or more college-level credit hours completed:

  1. Apply to Concordia University Chicago—with no application fee

  2. Send your official transcripts from ALL institutions you have attended to the Office of Undergraduate Admission, Concordia University Chicago, 7400 Augusta Street, River Forest, IL 60305.
  3. Once your completed application has been received and reviewed, an admission counselor will personally contact you by phone with your admission status.
  4. If accepted, congratulations!
  5. If you are eligible for admission, you will receive an acceptance letter and merit scholarship award letter in the mail.
  6. A packet of general information including housing, student life, financial aid, etc. will be mailed following the acceptance letter.

Applying with Fewer Than 15 Transfer Credits

Take these specific steps if you have fewer than 15 college-level credit hours completed:

  1. Apply to Concordia University Chicago—with no application fee

  2. Request your official high school transcripts be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admission, Concordia University Chicago, 7400 Augusta Street, River Forest, IL 60305.
  3. Send your official transcripts from ALL institutions you have attended to the Office of Undergraduate Admission, Concordia University Chicago, 7400 Augusta Street, River Forest, IL 60305.
  4. Once your completed application has been received and reviewed, an admission counselor will personally contact you by phone with your admission status.
  5. If accepted, congratulations!
  6. If you are eligible for admission, you will receive an acceptance letter and merit scholarship award letter in the mail.
