Concordia University Chicago’s Free Enterprise Center is pleased to announce its Business Leaders Breakfast, The Crisis of Dependency, on Friday, March 20, 2026.
This timely program will feature Dr. James Whitford, Founder and Executive Director of Watered Gardens and True Charity, who brings more than 20 years of experience working alongside individuals and communities facing poverty. Drawing from his research, leadership, and published work, Dr. Whitford will explore the unintended consequences of dependency and present a thoughtful roadmap for addressing poverty in ways that restore dignity, expand purpose, and strengthen communities.
Designed for business owners, executives, and community leaders, this breakfast conversation will challenge attendees to reconsider how systems of support, charity, and enterprise can work together to create sustainable opportunity.
