Meet Rachel:

  • The thing that differentiates CUC from other universities? Concordia–Chicago has an overwhelmingly positive and wonderful "welcome-ness" to it. Students and professors are extremely welcoming and supportive. Each person is made to feel like they belong immediately, which goes a long way in making your time in college a successful (and fun!) experience!
  • Favorite thing to do in downtown Chicago? I like doing the "classic tourist" type of activities—they never get old! Seeing the Bean, Navy Pier, the beach, going shopping on Michigan Avenue, concerts in Millennium Park, and visiting the world-class museums. Cubs games are always fun too!
  • Best advice for a successful college search? VISIT! Make a point to visit any school you're interested in. It is definitely the best way for you to get an idea of what a school is like and to see if you like it! Ask as many questions as you can and meet as many people as possible. Take notes on your thoughts because it is easy to forget the details.
  • International dream destination? My list is miles long, but my top destination as of now is Iceland. I would absolutely love to see the mountains, glaciers, black sand beaches, and especially the northern lights! That's been on my bucket list forever!
  • Favorite college memory? Being involved in the Wind Symphony. I played French horn for all four of my years at CUC and loved every second of it! As a group, we were blessed to play in some amazing places, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and a two-week tour of China.
  • Favorite ice cream? Ben and Jerry's Strawberry Shortcake ice cream. All. Day. Long.
