Samuel Gregg is President and Friedrich Hayek Chair in Economics and Economic History at the American Institute for Economic Research. He has a D.Phil. in moral philosophy and political economy from Oxford University. He has written extensively on questions of political economy in outlets such as The Wall Street Journal and Foreign Affairs. He is the author of seventeen books, including Becoming Europe (2013) and The Next American Economy (2022). Two of his books have been shortlisted for Conservative Book of the Year, and one of his books was shortlisted for the 2023 Hayek Prize. His forthcoming book in 2026 is The Civilization of Commerce: Invisible Hands and the Pursuit of Happiness.
