CELEBRATE IN "KATIE" STYLE
The Kloess family nickname, the "5K," inspired the Kindness 5K, a run/walk/stroll to honor Katie's legacy and to glorify Christ, the true reason for our actions, so that others might know Him. Our celebration will feature fun-filled and faith-based activities for race participants and their fans.
Kindness Camp 7:15 - 10:00 am
More than a typical road race, Kindness 5K participants are invited to "Kindness Camp" before and after the race. Activities will help leave a local impact in Batavia, enrich Chicagoland and connect to global kindness opportunities.
Stay tuned for info on 2019 projects such as:
- BRING BIRTHDAY ITEMS for the West Suburban Community Pantry (click for details)
- DROP OFF POP TABS for Ronald McDonald House Charities
- CALM ANXIETY with the Lutheran Church Charities - Comfort Dogs
- LIVE GENEROUSLY then stop by Thrivent table for info
- PRAY for a Service Person and take a keepsake for future reminder
- PAINT A PEBBLE to surprise someone through Kindness Rocks!
- JOT A NOTE to encourage a college student at Concordia University Chicago
- THANK a First Responder by sharing and encouraging word
- ENCOURAGE the homeless served by PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter)
Kid Zone 7:15 - 10:00 am
Katie decided at Concordia that she wanted to grow up...but not too much! A Kids Zone will be available before, during and after the race with games and activities for Katie's younger fans as well as the young at heart. Activities are geared for those 12 and under. Entrance is free, but registration is required. Register Today >>
Post-Race Worship 10:00 am
Our final event will be a worship service led by Pastor Matt Hoffman (St. Andrew's Lutheran Church/Park Ridge) and closing with a Victory Lap around the Batavia Riverwalk green. This final reminder celebrates our Victory in Heaven which Katie has received.
