The University Band of Concordia University Chicago will perform its spring concert on Friday, March 31, at 8 p.m. in the University’s Chapel of Our Lord. The concert is free and open to the public.

The evening’s featured soloists will be soprano Katherine Keberlein performing “I Shall Love But Thee” by Jan Van der Roost, and Cody Stocker on alto saxophone performing “Persuasion” by Sammy Nestico. The concert will also include selections from “Phantom of the Opera” by Andrew Lloyd Webber, “Blessed Are They” by Johannes Brahms, and “Molly on the Shore” by Percy Grainger.UniversityBand_Website-Image_MAR2023_540x356.png

Jean Harrison Bojes will return to provide commentary, introducing and providing interesting facts on each piece.

The University Band comprises approximately 70 musicians, including residents from surrounding communities as well as Concordia University Chicago students, faculty and staff.  Conductor Dr. Richard Fischer, distinguished professor of music and the Fred and Jane Wittlinger Endowed Chair for Music Performance, is in his 49th year as director of bands at Concordia-Chicago. In addition to his work at the University, he is in demand internationally as a guest conductor, clinician, presenter and adjudicator.

Concordia-Chicago’s campus is located at 7400 Augusta St., River Forest, IL. Free off-street parking is available in the University’s parking structure, south of Division Street on Bonnie Brae Place. Handicapped-accessible parking is available in the visitors’ lot adjacent to the north side of the University parking structure.
