Today, Concordia University Chicago released its comprehensive spring 2021 Return to Campus Plan. The document has been distributed to all to students, faculty and staff and is also available on CUC’s COVID-19 webpage. The plan outlines necessary procedures to ensure a safe return to campus, while maintaining academic excellence and prioritizing the health and safety of all members of the university community.
Concordia University Chicago will open its spring semester on Monday, January 11 as regularly scheduled. The University intends to offer courses in various formats, including fully remote and Hyflex, which combines online and face-to-face elements. CUC is preparing to move forward with all fall and spring sports during the spring semester, following all related NCAA and NACC conference guidelines. In addition, residence halls, student services, food service and other hallmarks of the on-campus educational experience will be available, but with amended operations.
CUC’s ongoing response to COVID-19 follows current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and other authoritative guidelines, regulations and laws. The Return to Campus Plan reflects adherence to Phase 4 of the state of Illinois' reopening plan to the fullest extent possible. Campus operations will remain flexible through the remainder of the academic year, giving the University the ability to pivot, as necessary, to continuously-evolving situation.
