The University Band of Concordia University Chicago will perform its annual spring concert on Friday, March 29 at 8 p.m. The free concert will be held in the University’s Chapel of Our Lord.
The Wind Symphony of Concordia University Chicago will perform their home concert on Friday, March 22 at 8 p.m., following a tour of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, New York and Virginia. The Kapelle will perform their home choral concert on Saturday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m., following a tour of Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Indiana and Michigan. Both free concerts will take place in the University’s Chapel of Our Lord.
Concordia University Chicago has been named an Age-Friendly University (AFU) for its commitment to serving an aging population, reflected in the breadth of its activities and research led by the University’s Center for Gerontology. The AFU Global Network consists of institutions of higher education around the world that have committed themselves to becoming more age friendly in their programs and policies.
The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago presents the Student Invitational Art Show from March 4 to April 7. The show will feature an array of artwork made by students enrolled in art classes over the last year, and selected by the University’s art faculty. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Concordia University Chicago’s (CUC) elementary education, Spanish education and special education programs have been awarded the coveted status of “Nationally Recognized” by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) after completing their review process last week. These programs will hold the honor of “Nationally Recognized” until the next institutional review cycle in five to seven years.
The Collective at Concordia University Chicago presents “The Benefit Committee,” a play by Aline Lathrop. The production, directed by Stephanie Stroud, will run Feb. 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m., and Feb. 17 and 24 at 3 p.m. at the Madison Street Theatre, 1010 Madison St., Oak Park, IL.
Concordia University Chicago has been nationally recognized as a leader in online education, ranking in the U.S. News & World Report lists for Best Online Bachelor’s Programs, Best Online MBA Programs and Best Online Graduate Education Programs. The magazine’s rankings were released today.
The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago presents “Paintings of Daily Observations,” an exhibit of figures, still lifes and landscapes by Chicago artist Robert J. Johnson. The free, public exhibition will be on display from Jan. 14 to Feb. 23.
Dr. Victor Govindaswamy, associate professor of computer science, was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Chicago Section in recognition of his valued service and contributions as a professor and mentor for outreach activities of the IEEE Chicago student branch at Concordia University Chicago.
Dr. Kevin O’Mara, associate professor of educational leadership at Concordia University Chicago, was named to Illinois Governor-elect J.B. Pritzker’s educational transition team. The committee, made up of advocacy group leaders, university officials, lawmakers and other subject-matter experts from around Illinois, will serve in an advisory role for the incoming Pritzker-Stratton administration.
