Pianist Esther Nyberg to perform recital
Renowned pianist Esther Nyberg will perform a recital on Friday, Nov. 9 at Concordia University Chicago. The free concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the University’s Chapel of Our Lord.
Over the course of the evening, Nyberg will perform Bach’s Toccata in D Major, BWV 912; Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in C Major, Op. 53; Chopin’s Barcarolle, Op. 60; and Muczynski’s Dream Cycle, Op. 44. There will be a brief intermission.
Nyberg, who is from Chicago, has performed in venues in the United States and Europe, including Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, Chicago’s Symphony Center, Preston Bradley Hall of the Chicago Cultural Center, The Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Cremona’s Museo del Violino, and Salzburg’s Wiener Saal. As concerto soloist, she has appeared with the Skokie Valley Symphony, the Chicago College of Performing Arts Symphony, and Portugal’s Orquestra de Camara de Cascais e Oeiras.
Inspired by her teachers and mentors to serve the community, Nyberg continues to perform at several Chicago assisted living centers and thoroughly enjoys teaching. She serves as an instructor at Concordia University Chicago’s Preparatory and Community Piano Program and maintains her own private studio. Nyberg holds a Bachelor of Music degree from The Catholic University of America and a Master of Music degree from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts.
Concordia-Chicago’s campus is located at 7400 Augusta St., River Forest, IL. Free off-street parking is available in the University’s parking structure, south of Division Street on Bonnie Brae Place. Handicapped-accessible parking is available in the visitors’ lot adjacent to the north side of the University parking structure.
