Gouache and ink on paper works by Nick Bridge

The pictures represent the artist’s encounter with Guatemala. People from all over the world have discovered, the ancient colonial town of Antigua is a fascinating mix of ancient cobblestone streets, Catholic churches partially in ruins because of earthquakes and a strong Mayan presence. Early encounters with Antigua were in the weeks just prior to Easter, when the town is given over to a boisterous celebration of “Semana Santa.” For an artist, the primary challenge is to be avoid the tritely picturesque in this often depicted environment.

Unfolding Secrets

January 8 – February 17, 2018
A Collection of Abstract Oil Paintings by Claudia Craemer

These works are about unfolding secrets through paint, searching for clues before the canvas; the act of discovering how the forms might arrange themselves to symbolize the process of the artist knowing something she may not have known before. It's also about intuition and an organic response to light, space and movement.
