Important Dates and Deadlines

Undergraduate students are individually responsible for meeting all deadlines and requirements prior to participating in a commencement ceremony.

**All Spring 2020 Commencement-Related Events Have Been Cancelled Except Service of Praise**


Tuesday, March 17

Apparel Order Deadline
All apparel must be ordered by Tuesday, March 17 via the campus bookstore. If you order after the deadline, there will be a late fee of $20 added to your order. If you have questions regarding late orders, please contact Office of the Dean of Students at dos@CUChicago.edu.

April 17

Outstanding Account Balances Due
All outstanding debt assessed on your tuition account must be paid in full to Business Services no later than TBA otherwise you will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. Submit your payment to Business Services no later than TBA.

Graduation Fee Due
As noted in the Concordia University Chicago Undergraduate Catalog, a graduation fee of $146 is assessed to all students who are to receive a degree regardless of participation in the ceremony. This fee will be posted to your student tuition account and is due no later than TBA. This fee does not include your cap and gown. Please submit your payment to Business Services (Addison 156A).

Coursework Audit
Please note that participation in Commencement does not guarantee receipt of your degree. At the close of your final semester, and in the weeks following commencement, the Registrar conducts an audit on all coursework completed to determine if all degree requirements have been met. Degrees and diplomas are then issued upon the successful completion of this audit.

Apparel Pick Up
Barnes & Noble Bookstore, KCC
Team members will distribute graduation apparel, marching guides and other important items. If unable to pick up regalia in person, a friend may do so with written permission via email at sm8040@bncollege.com. Your student account must be in good standing to obtain apparel.

Friday, May 8 - All Events Cancelled EXCEPT Service of Praise

Rehearsal and Ticket Pick Up: 3:45-5 p.m.
Geiseman Memorial Gymnasium

  • Ticket Pick Up - 3:45-4:30 p.m.
    Tickets should be picked up before rehearsal at the Geiseman Memorial Gymnasium. Please note ticket pick up will be suspended during rehearsal time.
  • Mandatory Commencement Rehearsal - 4:30 p.m.
    Your attendance should be given top priority at this mandatory session where special instructions and information will be distributed.
  • Retakes for Composite Pictures - 4-5 p.m.
    Students who missed the Grad Finale event can take their graduation photos retaken during the rehearsal event. 

Undergraduate Alumni Graduation Celebration: 5-7 p.m.
Oak Park/River Forest Room, KCC
Plan to join friends, faculty and family for a special gathering in your honor as the newest degree alumni of CUC. An invitation will follow from the Office of Alumni Relations will be mailed shortly to the diploma address on your intent to graduate form.

The Service of Praise and Consecration, Baccalaureate Service: 7:30 p.m.
Chapel of Our Lord

Special worship service giving thanks for the vocation of all graduates and in recognition of professional church work candidates.

Commencement Ceremony
9:30 a.m. Lineup
All participants are asked to arrive at 9:30 a.m. to begin lining up in the first floor of the Krentz Center.

10:30 a.m. Ceremony Begins

Wednesday, October 16, 2019
3 to 6 p.m.

This event brings all areas of campus to one location to allow graduates to:

  • Take professional cap and gown senior portraits used in the senior composite.
  • Celebrate with fellow graduates with a festive evening of pizza and fun.
  • Meet with Business Services to review any outstanding financial commitments.
  • Consult with the Registrar’s Office to flag potential academic concerns.
  • Order your cap and gown from Jostens, our official academic apparel provider. The cap and gown is yours to keep after graduation.
  • Meet your Alumni Relations Representative.

Undergraduate students must order academic apparel (caps and gowns) in order to participate in Commencement. The cost of the apparel is $39.99 plus tax and is separate from the Student Graduation Fee.

Tuesday, March 17

Notes: If you do not order apparel, it is our understanding that you do not plan to participate in the commencement ceremony. If you already placed your order during the Grad Finale event you do not need to place another order online. Payment for cap and gown is required at the time of pick up, not at the time the order is placed.

Pick Up

Monday, May 4 - Friday, May 8
Go to the Barnes & Noble Bookstore located in the lower level of the KCC during regular business hours to pick up your apparel. Please bring check, cash or credit card to pay for your cap and gown from Jostens.

Team members will distribute graduation apparel, marching guides and other important items. If unable to pick up regalia in person, a friend may do so with written permission via email at sm8040@bncollege.com. Your student account must be in good standing to obtain apparel.

Undergraduate Commencement is a Ticketed Event

Each undergraduate student participating in Commencement Spring 2020 will receive five (5) tickets for their guests before and after graduation rehearsal on Friday, May 8. Each person entering the gymnasium for the Commencement Ceremony MUST have a ticket, including all adults and children--no exceptions.

Based on the final number of students participating in the Commencement Ceremony, additional tickets may become available after graduation rehearsal on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Pick up tickets and marching guides Friday, May 8 at the Geiseman Memorial Gymnasium between 3:45 and 5:30 p.m. Please note: Ticket pick-up will be suspended during rehearsal.
