Set in the fictional Chinquapin, Louisiana, “Steel Magnolias” is a comedy-drama that revolves around the lives of the women who frequent Truvy’s hair salon. Over the course of three years, the Southern ladies receive beauty treatments and plenty of advice from Truvy as they share laughter and tears. The play was written by Robert Harling and debuted off-Broadway in 1987, before being adapted into a movie in 1989. A.C.T.’s production will be directed by Emil Clausing.
