Antea Pela’s time at Concordia-Chicago has been full of achievements both academic and extracurricular. Graduating with a double major in marketing and actuarial science, Antea was recently recognized for Excellence in Leadership by the College of Business. As an active participant in Concordia University Dance Marathon, a student organization that raises donations for Lurie Children’s Hospital, Antea had the top fundraising award named in her honor—the Pela Miracle Maker Award.

This spring, Antea was awarded the title of Legacy Leader at the Golden Paws Leadership Award celebration. The award recognizes a graduating senior for their leadership, reliability, overall excellence, service and passion for CUC during their academic career.

“Although it was a virtual celebration, it did not make it feel any less special or memorable. I was the most touched by my nominator’s words; she recognized my drive to not only be involved but to inspire others to get involved and be passionate leaders as well,” Antea says. “To see the Zoom chat explode in congratulatory messages was a standout experience for me that I am so humbled to have experienced.”

Now Antea is looking forward to her next adventure in Nashville, TN, where she will be starting a full-time job as a continuous improvement specialist at Schneider Electric, a Global 500 energy management company. “Before my start date, I plan on soaking in as much time with family in Chicago as possible,” she says. “Of course, I have God to thank for the way everything came together!”
