Many teachers do not have the advantages of benchmark testing provided by larger companies.  Often teachers must level students themselves for placement in Guided Reading or leveled reading instruction.

Running Records is a method that provides teachers insight into areas including:Reading miscue patterns, fluency, comprehension, and reading rate (if desired). This workshop will introduce Running Records, how to administer and score them, and then how to evaluate the miscues toward placement and instruction.

Additionally, other informal assessments and activities will be shown that will help teachers perhaps in planning targeted “mini lessons.”

This workshop is appropriate for K – 8 teachers.

Elements from Illinois Common Core Standards:  CC RT 1 – 5; 6 – 8; RL 1 – 5, 6 - 8
