CUC offers two degree tracks: a bachelor of arts in music with a business emphasis and a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis on music. The bachelor of arts degree is for music-minded students seeking a board liberal arts foundation, with an emphasis in business. Either degree will prepare you as a confident, ethical business leader for exciting degree opportunities in a dynamic field.

Business Management with a Music Emphasis Course Information
The bachelor of arts in music is for students who want a broad liberal arts foundation, yet with an emphasis in business. The bachelor of science degree provides more depth in business curriculum. Students in both tracks will take required courses in music history, music theory, arts administration, aural skills and music technology, as well as accounting, management, ethics, finance and marketing courses. The bachelor of arts in music students will augment with a selection of liberal arts courses, while bachelor of science students will take courses that provide more depth in business knowledge.

Business Management with a Music Emphasis Major Opportunities
Opportunities for employment include marketing, arts management and other not-for-profit management. Among Concordia’s innovative programs is its longstanding “supervised work experience,” which offers opportunities for you to receive academic credit while gaining practical work experience. Concordia’s active placement office offers counseling, internships and on-site interviews for students.
Music students at Concordia have a standing opportunity for a field experience with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus manager. Fieldwork allows students to gain practical, hands-on experience in music administration. After graduation, students have pursued administrative experiences in the arts.
Concordia Business Club links business concepts learned in coursework to the professional community through educational opportunities, events and real-world experiences. Members benefit from networking and presentations on job placement, leadership development and more.
The Music Department is housed in Kretzmann Hall, which has two large rehearsal rooms, studios for instrumental and voice study, individual practice rooms, five pipe organs and 35 pianos. Students in music programs take private applied lessons on their primary instrument or voice, and participate in a variety of choral and instrumental ensembles.
