Corps of Great Teachers is Core of Successful Program

Concordia University Chicago, in conjunction with the West Suburban Reading Council, will host the 37th Annual Reading Conference  on Saturday, October 20 entitled "A Corps of Great Reading Teachers is the Core of a Successful Reading Program." The day features a keynote by Dr. Donna Ogle and more than 25 breakout sessions presented by reading professionals. Alumni are invited to connect with educators from across the Midwest. Wind Symphony and Kapelle Depart on Fall Tour

Concordia University Chicago Wind Symphony and Kapelle will visit four different states during their annual fall tours, Friday - Sunday, October 26 - 28. Concerts will be held in Illinois, Missouri, Indiana and Wisconsin with a Home Concert performed by each ensemble on Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3 respectively. Planned Giving Honors Alumni and Extends University's Mission

Allan Loek, the son of two alumni, connected to Concordia through a campus visit with his parents as a child. Today, Allan has chosen a planned gift to honor their legacy along with his own love for music extending the reach of the University's core value into our greater communities. The Walter Carl '36 and Leona Emilie '75 Loek Music Scholarship Endowment will provide scholarship awards for students preparing to serve as church organists. Calling All Mascot Alumni to Honor Charlie T.'s 80th Birthday

In October 1933, Concordia students selected the "Cougars" as the official mascot for University teams. Since then he has affectionately been known as Charlie T. Cougar. Next fall we'll be celebrating Charlie's 80th birthday as part of the University's 150th anniversary festivities. In preparation, the Office of Alumni Relations is assembling a roster of all alumni who have donned the Charlie T. costume.
