Vacation and Break Schedule
The University limits all activities during recess periods of one week or more and at those times the residence halls and the dining hall close. Here are the break dates for the 2009-2010 academic year. Please share these dates with your parents as you and they make flight and other travel arrangements.
Labor Day
Monday, September 7, 2009. No classes will be held. Residence halls will be open and the dining hall will provide regular meal service.
Midterm Break
10/9/2009 to 10/11/2009. Residence halls will be open and the dining hall will provide regular meal service.
Thanksgiving
No classes will be held Wednesday through Sunday- 11/25/2009 to 11/29/2009.
Halls close at 8pm Tuesday, November 24th and reopen at 12 noon Sunday, November 29th. The last board plan meal will be the evening meal on Tuesday. The board plan will resume with Sunday brunch. Classes resume at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 30, 2009.
Final Exam
Final Exam Days for Fall Semester are Monday through Friday, 12/7/09 to 12/11/09
Winter Commencement will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009; however those participating in commencement and requiring additional time will have until 12 noon on Sunday, December 13th to be checked out of their room. The last meal of the board plan is the evening meal on Saturday.
Spring 2010 Semester
Residence halls will open at 12 noon Sunday, January 10, 2010 and the board plan resumes with brunch that day. Spring Semester classes begin on Monday, January 11, 2010.
Martin Luther King Remembrance
Monday, January 18, 2010. No classes will be held. Residence halls will be open and the dining hall will provide regular meal service.
Spring Break
3/ 06/2009 to 3/14/2010
Halls will close at 7pm on Friday, March 6, 2010. The last meal of the board plan is the evening meal on Saturday, March7. Student teachers will be allowed to stay in the residence halls at no charge, but will have to provide for their own meals during the break. Student teachers must notify their RA that they will be staying on campus. Residence halls will open at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010 and the board plan will resume with brunch on that day.
Easter Weekend
4/1/2010 to 4/5/2010
No classes will be held Thursday through Monday, April 1 to April 5, 2010. Residence halls will not close; however the board plan ends after the evening meal on Wednesday and resumes with breakfast on Monday.
End of Spring Semester/Academic Calendar
Final Exam Days for Spring Semester are Monday through Friday, 5/3/2010 to 5/7/2010. Residence halls will close at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2010. Meal service hours will be shortened on Saturday, May 6, 2010, the last day of the board plan. The last meal of the board plan is the evening meal. Students must check out of their rooms within 24 hours of their last final. Special provisions will be made for students working for the university during the summer and/or taking summer courses.
Spring Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010
