  • What should I bring to Jump Start?
    • Important papers (Example: Health forms - not necessary but you can turn them in at this time)
    • Clothing and pajamas

    • An open mind and a positive attitude!
  • Do I need a photo ID to obtain my student ID?
Yes. Students need to confirm their identity with valid identification (drivers license, state ID) to obtain their student ID. Make sure to keep your valid identification handy on the second day of your Jump Start session.
  • How long will I be staying?
Jump Start lasts a day and a half. Sessions are scheduled on Friday-Saturday or Monday-Tuesday (arrangements can be made for students and families to arrive the day before). Students will be dismissed after lunch on the second day.
  • What will we be doing?
The Concordia University Jump Start Leaders have fun activities planned that will introduce you to the campus environment and will get you ready for the first day of classes. You will also create your class schedule for the fall semester. The information sessions and activities planned will help students become acclimated to the campus.
  • Should my parents come?
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. They may choose to stay at one of the many hotels in the surrounding area or they can make reservations to stay on campus in one of our residence halls. There will be programs for parents while students are attending sessions.
  • What should I wear to Jump Start?
Wear comfortable clothing, there will be no need for any formal attire. We will be taking the train downtown, so make sure to bring comfortable walking shoes!
  • When can I see an advisor? / When do I schedule my classes?
You should have received a course selection sheet in the mail which you will fill out and mail back prior to attending Jump Start. You will have a 45-minute individual appointment with your advisor at your Jump Start session where you will schedule your classes for the Fall term.
  • Do I have to take placement tests?
Yes, each student will have to take a scheduled math placement test. Music majors may have to take a placement test or schedule a placement audition.
  • I am going to be a commuter student, do I still need to stay on campus?
All students attending the two-day Jump Start program will take part in the opportunity to experience residential life at Concordia by spending the night in one of our residence halls. An overnight stay is not required of commuter students attending the special, one-day commuter session on July 31.
