Travel Channel host, acclaimed author Marcus Sakey to appear at Concordia-Chicago

Acclaimed author and host of a new show for the Travel Channel, Marcus Sakey will discuss his latest book, The Two Deaths of Daniel Hayes, at Concordia University Chicago in Christopher Center 200 on Oct. 13.
Sakey will discuss shadowing homicide detectives, touring morgues, shooting with Special Forces soldiers and riding with gang cops to gather research required for his books and TV show as well as his general insights on writing.
The event will begin with a book signing and reading in the West Annex, first floor at 3 p.m. The conversation with Marcus Sakey and book discussion will begin at 6 p.m. in Christopher Center 200.
Sakey is the award-winning author of The Amateurs, At the City’s Edge and The Blade Itself among others. His novel Good People is slated to be filmed as a major motion picture starring Tobey Maguire and directed by Niels Arden Oplev.
A Chicago resident, Sakey has spent the past few months in the production of a new series for the Travel Channel. In the series, tentatively titled “Hidden City,” Sakey visits various cities across the globe and explores the historic crimes that helped to define them.
