Kevin Brandon named Thrivent Fellow
5/1/2011
May 10,2011—Kevin Brandon, PhD, associate professor of education and dean of the College of education at Concordia University Chicago was recently named a Thrivent Fellow. The prestigious Thrivent Fellows Program is a rigorous 12-month leadership fellowship for the purpose of growing the leadership capacity of the agencies and institutions of the Lutheran church.
Sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, the Council of College and University Presidents of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), the Board for University Education of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the Unit for Vocation and Education of the ELCA and the Lutheran Educational Conference of North America, the purpose of the Fellows Program is to identify, encourage, develop and equip high capacity senior leaders for leadership roles in Lutheran agencies and institutions.
Candidates were selected based on their dedication to the mission and distinctiveness of Lutheran colleges, seminaries and universities, a strong record of service to these agencies and institutions, a clear potential for top-level leadership, and on their vocational call to lead these important agencies and institutions.
Through intensive retreats and seminars, Fellows will gain increased knowledge and understanding of Lutheran traditions and values, stronger awareness of their own leadership capacities, thorough knowledge of key management issues in these complex enterprises, discernment of personal and professional goals that will equip them to fulfill their callings, a plan for professional growth, and an expanded network of relationships with other Lutheran higher education leaders.
