Cougars Crowned Co-Champions
“The Concordia Football Cougars were crowned co-champions of the Illini-Badger conference, finishing with a conference record of 3-1 (5-3-1 overall).The success of the 1983 football team was a result of the combination of a number of individual efforts and the outstanding leadership of Head Coach Jim Braun and his staff...experiencing Concordia's "winningest" season since 1975..." This October marks the 25th anniversary of our dance as the 1983 Illini-Badger Conference Champions, and we hope you’ll plan to join us to celebrate at Homecoming Weekend, October 17-19, 2008. We’ve put together a reunion, with the help of Paige Craig ’99, Director of Alumni Relations, to help celebrate past victories and cheer on this year’s Cougar team. Our 25th anniversary schedule of events includes:
Saturday, October 18, 2008
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. University Tailgating (David/Jonathan parking lot)
Come early and join our reserved “gold” section alongside parents of today’s team. You can bring your own menu (a common grill will be available), or purchase a meal from Sodexho’s Tailgate Buffet for $8/person.1:00 p.m. Football Game vs. Lakeland (Football Field)
We’ll have seats reserved for the team to help cheer the Cougars to victory. During halftime, the team will be invited on the field for a special recognition.4:00 – 7:00 p.m. 1983 Team Celebration (Doc Ryan’s/Forest Park)
After the last down, continue the celebration at a post game happy hour on Madison Street. Purchase a wristband for three hours of unlimited appetizer buffet and drinks (domestic drafts, house wine, and soda). Cost: $15/adult and $8/child.
