Matching Gifts

Matching gifts are a great way to leverage your contribution!

Corporate Matching Gifts - Concordia University encourages donors who make an outright gift to check with their employer to determine if they participate in a corporate matching gift program. If so, the employer will provide you with the necessary gift matching application form. Some employers match gifts dollar per dollar, others have a limit on amount, or frequency of the match.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans matches outright gifts to Concordia University made by members 16 years of age and older who is either a benefit member of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, or who owns a Thrivent Mutual Funds account, and/or Thrivent Life Insurance Company product. Contact Meg Busse at (708) 209-3482 for further information.

Corporate Matching Gifts and Donor Recognition - Corporate matching gifts are included in a donor's total giving for donor recognition purposes. For example, if you make a $500 gift which is matched by your corporation for $250, and also by Thrivent for $250, you will receive a total gift credit of $1,000, and be recognized as a Koehneke Club donor within the President's Circle.

Personal Challenge Gift Matches - From time to time, a Concordia University donor will challenge others to make a gift, and will match the amount raised. Please take note of any opportunities to further leverage your gift, outright or planned, through a special challenge gift match offered by a donor.

Designating a Gift

While Concordia University encourages undesignated, unrestricted giving through the Pillars/Annual Fund, any gift can be designated for a special university purpose. Special purposes include support for scholarships, academic programs, or buildings and grounds. Special purpose (designated) gifts can be outright or planned gifts. These gifts can also be applied to one of the university's endowment funds, or be used to establish a new named endowment, or increase an existing one.
