Gary Bertels, PhD

Dr. Bertels teaches religious education classes for the young child, the elementary school aged child, the adolescent, and the adult. He also teaches the theology class Christian life. Additionally, he teaches the Senior Seminar in Theology offering. Among his research interests are spiritual development and formation and children in worship.

Also, he serves as the Director of the Ostrava University (Czech Republic) and Concordia University Chicago Research Collaborative. He has been a member of Concordia’s faculty since 1981.
