Feed My Sheep
Simon, do you love me? Feed my sheep. – John 21:17
What is Feed My Sheep?
In John 21, Christ commanded Simon to feed his sheep. Concordia University Chicago responds to this command by offering some of its finest musicians, dramatists, and youth ministry teams to LCMS congregations in and around the Chicago area. Feed My Sheep volunteers offer their time to enhance worship and other special events with their music and drama.
If your congregation is interested in scheduling a musical ensemble or drama team to assist you in worship or with another special event please contact the Feed My Sheep coordinator or the Director of Church Relations.
Some things to consider…
We ask that when hosting one of our volunteer groups, you provide a meal between or after the Sunday morning worship services or special event. Our students are not always able to make it back to campus in time for the meals provided in our cafeteria, and they would gratefully appreciate a meal provided by you.
Some congregations may be outside of the Concordia “home area.” If your congregation is located more than one hour’s drive from our campus, we will anticipate staying the evening in the area. Students will require housing, which usually comes from within the congregation. When calling to schedule one of our groups, we will assist you in making the housing requirements necessary for the weekend.
From soloists to ensembles, the students at Concordia are ready to assist worship at your congregation in a variety of musical ways. Students who volunteer for this program are very talented, and love using their God given talents to help enhance worship.
Musical Ensembles available to you:
• Brass (Soloists, Quartets, Quintets)
• Woodwind (Soloists, Small Ensembles, Strings, Soloists)
• Vocal (Cantors, Soloists, Women’s Ensembles, Men’s Ensembles, Mixed Voice Ensembles)
• Organists/Pianists
• Handbells
Campus Youth Ministry (CYM)
As a part of the student-led Campus Ministry of the University, the purpose of Concordia Youth Ministry is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is done through
fellowship with team members, and by witnessing through lock-ins, concerts, servant events, and retreats with youth. They serve area congregations in a 200-mile radius of the University by planning and running youth events as well as other programs. There are nine CYM teams. Three are musical teams that witness through music, puppetry, and acting, and six teams that focus on lock-ins, special retreats, and other requests.
