GER-1101: Elementary German I - 3 hours
Emphasis on reading and conversational skills. Grammar and German culture. Audio and video tapes. For students without credit in high school or college German or consent of the instructor.

GER-1102: Elementary German II - 3 hours
Continuation of Elementary German I. Graded reading material. Elementary composition. Prerequisite: GER-1101 or equivalent.

GER-2101: Intermediate German I - 3 hours
Development of conversational skills. The customs and culture of the country. Advanced grammar. Prerequisite: GER-1102 or two units of high school German.

GER-2102: Intermediate German II - 3 hours
Reading of literary texts: short stories, legends, poetry. Advanced topics in German civilization. Oral and written compositions. Prerequisite: GER-2101. IAI: H1 900.

GER-4950: Independent Study in German - 1-6 hours
