Vern Klotz enters his sixth
season as head coach of the Concordia Chicago women's tennis team.
A 1967 alumnus, Klotz has taught mathematics and computer science at Concordia since 1986. Concordia's Student Association recognized his excellence in teaching by voting him Professor of the Year for the 2002-03 academic year.
Klotz, who also coached the Cougar men's team from 2005 to 2007, coached varsity tennis, both women's and men's, at St. Paul's High School in Concordia, Missouri for 10 years and coached men at the junior college level for four years. His prep coaching background also includes four years of girls' varsity basketball and seven years of boys' junior varsity basketball.
Klotz earned his B.A. in physical science from Concordia in 1967. He has both an M.S. Ed. in physical science education (1973) and an M.S. in applied mathematics (1984) from Central Missouri State University.
