Coaching Staff
Ashley Obrest enters her first season as assistant coach for the Concordia Chicago softball program.
Oberst is a 2007 graduate of Boston College with a bachelor's degree in sociology. She was a four-year starter primarily at catcher for the Eagles and batted .278 over 550 career at-bats (195 games) with 83 runs scored, 18 homers and 95 RBIs. Obrest was a 2004 second-team All-Big East selection and, in April of 2006, she became the first Boston College softball player to be named the Player of the Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Obrest is a 2003 graduate of her hometown Elmwood Park High School where she played four years of softball, basketball and volleyball. She was named the Metro Suburban Conference Most Valuable Player for softball in her senior year and the MVP for basketball during her junior year. Obrest earned all-conference, all-region and all-area honors for softball all four years; in addition, she was a member of the Chicago Tribune's Super Sixty softball team and was named one of the top ten dual high school athletes in the state of Illinois.
Obrest has been involved in softball and baseball since the age of four when she played T-ball on an all-boys team. She brings with her a determination to win and a desire to help the Cougar players, saying that "I welcome the challenges that accompany this position and look forward to working individually with each player. I am eager to share my knowledge of the game and the techniques that I have learned."
