Andrew Tirmenstein begins his third season as an assistant to the Cougar men's soccer program.
"It's been a privilege to be involved with the Cougar men's program, first as a player and now as a coach," states Tirmenstein. "I am looking forward to another exciting season working with Coach Middendorf."
Tirmenstein played in 55 matches between
2003 and 2005, scoring 14 goals and 12 assists
for a total of 40 points. He had three
game-winning goals to his credit, and he scored
a goal in perhaps the biggest game in Cougar history,
the 2005 Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference tournament championship game against Benedictine
University.
Tirmenstein also competed for Concordia’s
track team for four seasons as a sprinter and
jumper. In February of 2003, he ran the 400-
meter leg as part of the school’s record-setting
distance medley foursome that claimed the
current standard with a time of 10:54.72. Tirmenstein has transitioned from athlete to coach in track as well, having coached the Cougar jumpers for the past three years.
A native of St. Louis, Tirmenstein lettered four years in both soccer and track at Lutheran North High School.
Tirmenstein graduated Concordia in 2006 with degrees in secondary education and visual arts. He currently works at Run Chicago in the neighboring suburb of Forest Park.

Rick Trethewey is in his first season with the Concordia men’s soccer program as an assistant coach.
Trethewey, a native of Zeeland, Michigan where he attended Holland Christian High School, came to Concordia in 2007 where he served as a residence director for one year before taking the position of disability services coordinator in Concordia’s Student Services department.
Trethewey is a 2007 graduate of Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights where he played for the Trolls for four seasons (2003-06). In his career as a midfielder spanning 59 games, he scored two goals and had four assists. He was a contributor to the 2005 team that went 13-8-2, claimed an NCCAA Regional championship and advanced to the NCCAA National Championships.
Trethewey is newly married as of June 2009 to wife Amber.
