Scholarships and Grants

The Presidential Scholarship is a merit award based on academic achievement measured by ACT/SAT test scores and high school grade point average (GPA). Awards vary up to $12,000 per year, renewable for four years of consecutive full-time enrollment. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 annually.

The Church Professional Grant is a tuition assistance award of $1,000 available to members of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) who intend to pursue a church profession upon graduation from Concordia University. Renewable for up to four years with annual verification of intent to pursue a church profession.

The Music Scholarship is a performance based scholarship awarded to students demonstrating exceptional musical talent. Recipients must participate in musical ensembles or serve as a piano accompanist or chapel organist. Auditions are typically scheduled in February of each year. Scholarship awards vary, and are renewable for four years.

The President's Honor Scholars awards are full-tuition merit scholarships with a current value of $22,390. Up to five academically outstanding first-year freshmen students are selected for the University's most prestigious award. This scholarship competition is by invitation only to students with a minimum 30 ACT composite or SAT of 1310 and a GPA of 3.75 after no less than 6 semesters or designation as a National Merit Semi-finalist. Scholarship recipients participate in the Honors Program and must maintain an annual GPA of 3.75 for continued eligibility.

Concordia Community Award
Freshman: varies from $3,500-$5,000
Four-year renewable award given to students who exhibit above average criteria for acceptance to the University.
Transfer: varies from $1,500-$7,000
Renewable award given to students who have a combined 2.75-2.99 grade point average from their transfer institution(s).

Transfer Honors Scholarship
Award varies up to $10,000; Renewable scholarship given to students who have a 3.0-4.0 combined GPA from their transfer institution(s).

Phi Theta Kappa Award
Amount: $2,000
Renewable award given to students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa. Verification of membership must be provided on official college transcript.

Lutheran Servant Award of $500 is awarded to students who have a parent employed full-time in a recognized LCMS affiliated school, church or agency. This award is to honor and recognize the service and support parents provide to Lutheran organizations and is renewable for up to four years upon verification of parent's employment.

Business Enterprise Award of $1,000 per year is awarded to transfer students in the College of Business. This grant is awarded by the College of busines and assistants transfer students who intend to pursue a bachelor's degree in one of the business programs. This award is renewable each year provided the student advances to the next academic level.

The Alumni Grant of $500 per year is awarded to new students whose mother or father graduated from Concordia University. The grant is renewable for up to four years of consecutive full-time enrollment, excluding summer term.

The Lutheran High School Commitment: A minimum of $4,000 per year in non-need based awards and scholarships will be given to students admitted to Concordia University Chicago who graduated from a Lutheran high school.
