Steps to Getting an I-20

Once an international student has been admitted to Concordia University, he or she will want to obtain an I-20 in order to get the needed student visa.

The following documents must be submitted before Concordia University will issue an I-20 for an accepted student.

• Proof of ability to pay educational expenses. In order to receive a student VISA you must show proof of available funds to cover one year's tuition, room, board and personal expenses. For the 2007-08 school year the total of all these expenses is approximately $32,000. Documentation of the ability to pay expenses may be presented on a Declaration of Finances form, which Concordia can send to admitted students or with an original bank statement providing adequate funds.
• For students who have attended schools in the United States only: a Transfer Verification Form from that school to Concordia University. We will provide the student with a copy of this form to be completed and returned to us.
• For prospective students currently living in the United States only: the original passport, visa, I-94, and current I-20 (if applicable), should be brought to the International Student Advisor's office for photocopying. They will be returned immediately to the prospective student. If prospective students cannot come to Concordia's campus in person, they should send copies of these documents directly to the International Student Advisor's office at Concordia University.
• After the prospective student has sent the items above and has determined that he or she plans to enroll, that student should send a check for $100 (U.S.) or credit card payment of that amount along with the tuition deposit form to the Office of Undergraduate Admission at Concordia. This non-refundable deposit will be applied toward the first semester's tuition.

Once all of the items above have been received by Concordia University, an I-20 will be sent to the admitted student within two weeks.
