What is Organizational Management?

Organizational Management, as a field of study, focuses broadly on developing the art and science of getting things done through people -- individually and in team environments.

Accelerated Degree Completion Program graduates make significant contributions to the organizations of which they are a part, because we have helped them to become critical thinkers and creative problem-solvers committed to effective communication and lifelong learning.

Effective managers must have a comprehensive understanding of organizations and an appreciation of how various business functions (i.e., marketing, finance, human resources management and development) come together, as well as analytic skills, technical competencies, and the interpersonal and group skills necessary to function capably in an organizational setting.

The course delivery format is built upon adult education theory and principles which encourage students to put into practice concepts introduced in each course. The Senior Project experience, an applied research project, gives the adult student an opportunity to understand the importance of connecting business research methods to organizational change.

Concordia University believes that contextual learning is critical to a student's individual success, and to the successful management of all types of organizations. This philosophy is reflected in the design and implementation of Accelerated Degree Completion Program for Adults. We bring together faculty and students as co-learners committed to understanding different types of organizations.
