Psychology

Beth Venzke, Ph.D., Chair

Psychology is a scientific discipline with a focus on the behavior of individuals. Some psychologists have interests which overlap with the natural sciences (biology, chemistry, health sciences, etc.) Such psychologists may study fields such as physiological psychology, neuroscience, perception, memory, learning, information processing, psychopharmacology, and certain aspects of development. Another group of psychologists have interests closer to those of social scientists. These psychologists may study topics such as child psychology, adolescent psychology, personality, and social psychology.

Our student organizations include a very active Sociology/Social Work and Psychology club which holds various educational and social events each year. There is also an active chapter of the national psychology honorary society, Psi Chi.
