Applied Microscopy is offered by Concordia University Chicago in partnership with The College of Microscopy, a member of The McCrone Group, allow students the opportunity to learn from world leaders in the field who provides accredited training and education to scientists and students worldwide.

Microscopy is used everyday in a wide range of industries. Students who graduate with a microscopy degree will have an “edge over competition” by having in-depth training on the use of microscopes and practical applications for sample analysis. Among key areas utilizing this degree are manufacturing, the pharmaceutical industry, forensic science and the petroleum industry.

This degree allows students opportunities in the high-demand areas of homeland security, public health, aerospace and automotive industries, food contamination and several others.

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in applied microscopy can earn their degree in 65 semester hours of study. Of the required hours, 32 are completed through mandatory classes including biology, chemistry, forensic science, calculus and physics. The additional 33 hours are completed over two semesters at the College of Microscopy. These hours will include polarized light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and particle isolation and manipulation.

A minor of microscopy is available and students must earn 21 required hours over a full semester and one May or summer term at the College of Microscopy. Selecting this minor is an excellent fit with a bachelor of science or arts in chemistry or a bachelor of arts in natural science.

The College of Microscopy is internationally known for its excellent reputation for materials characterizations and identification through microscopy and microanalysis. It specializes in training at undergraduate and graduate levels for scientists, crime lab personnel, researchers, educators and technicians from around the world.

Concordia University Chicago offers several opportunities to study science through the duration of their degree program. To learn more about the College of Microscopy visit, www.collegeofmicroscopy.com
