College of Education

BACHELOR OF MUSIC EDUCATION

The BME degree is designed for students who plan to teach music only. Graduates receive an Illinois Standard Special Certificate with a music emphasis and may teach at the elementary and secondary level (K-12 certification, music only).

Students may choose an emphasis in one or two of the following:
  1. Choral Music
  2. Instrumental Music
  3. General Music


BACHELOR OF ARTS

The BA degree is divided into three programs. You can choose from one of the following:
  1. Early Childhood Education-music specialty area
  2. Elementary Education-music specialty area
  3. Secondary Education-Minor in Music
    (Students wishing a secondary education major follow the BME program)

College of Arts and Sciences

BACHELOR OF ARTS

Students may major or minor in music.

Studies include music theory and musicianship, music history and performance.

Major in Music

Certificate in Parish Music (Director of Parish Music Program)
(available only in conjunction with the music major)
