Degree: Bachelor of Arts (128-159 hours)
The Bachelor of Arts in Special Education degree program leads to the State of Illinois Teaching Certificate in Special Education (Birth through 21). Candidates must complete the requriments for Transition Points in the College of Education.

VII. Professional Semester (15 hours)
The Student Teaching Internship is supervised experience in two levels of school settings that serve special needs students from age 3 through age 21 every day for the 16-week semester under the guidance of a classroom cooperating teacher. The intern will be supported and evaluated by a university supervisor.
Candidates must meet the requirements for Transition Point Two: Admission to the Student Teaching Internship Semester to begin the internship.
Subsequently, candidates must meet the requirements for Transition Point Three: Completion of the Student Teaching Internship Semester. Attendance at scheduled seminars is required.
